Tensai Coaching Ages 5 to 14 · One-on-one · Online
Focus can be taught. We coach your child, and you.
For children who can't concentrate, won't stay on task or turn homework into a battle. A coach works with your child once or twice a week, and shows you exactly what to do at home in between.
Every family starts with the Diagnostic Assessment: one hour, academics and focus, ₦20,000.
Week 3 · Age 8Coach: Junior team (ages 5 to 8)
- Same study corner, same time, every day
- 20-minute study block before any screen time
- Points on the chart when the block is done
01 Who it's for
If evenings at home look like this, coaching is for your child.
- "I have to keep reminding him to focus."
- She starts her homework and never finishes it.
- He reads, and five minutes later it's gone.
- Every study time ends in tears or shouting.
- The screen always wins.
- "I know my child can do better."
None of this means your child is lazy or stubborn. Focus is a skill. It can be trained, and the home around your child is where most of that training happens.
02 How coaching works
From one hour to a new routine.
- 01
The Diagnostic Assessment
A trained assessor spends an hour with your child, live, looking at their academic level, focus, attitude and behaviour. It's the same assessment for every Tensai programme, so it also tells us if your child needs tutoring alongside coaching. Then we walk you through what we found.
- 02
Your child's plan
You get a written plan: what your child needs to work on, how often they'll meet their coach, and what we'll ask of you at home.
- 03
One-on-one sessions
One hour on Google Meet, once or twice a week, at a time agreed with your family. Coaches work in age teams, ages 5 to 8 and 9 to 14.
- 04
Home actions after every session
You get a short summary of what your child worked on, with a few simple things to do at home that week. This is where focus gets built.
- 05
Every session checked
With your consent, sessions are recorded, and our team reviews every private session the same day, so the standard doesn't slip.
03 What we work on
The habits behind good grades.
- Focus and attention
Staying with one task for longer, a few minutes more every week.
- Finishing what they start
Homework done from start to end, without you standing over it.
- A study routine
A set time and a set place, so study stops being a daily negotiation.
- Reading without reminders
Picking up a book because they want to, and remembering what they read.
- Screen time that's earned
Clear rules your child agrees to, so the screen stops being the fight.
- Confidence
A child who believes they can do it, and tries again when it's hard.
04 Your part
Coaching works when home joins in.
Your child spends one or two hours a week with their coach, and the rest of the week with you. So we coach you too. You won't need to teach anything. You'll need a few minutes a day for the home actions, a quiet corner for study, and a steady routine.
Children make the most progress when they come to every session, do the short practice in between and avoid long gaps.

07 What parents notice
Small changes at home, every week.
From parents in the Focus Bootcamp, the group version of Tensai Coaching.
Before, study was random. No structure to it. I would continually tell them to go read their books, a shabby attempt would be made, and that was all. The idea of earning points before doing what they loved was the game changer. There was initial grumbling, but we understand ourselves now.
My son learnt to be serious. There was a day he got off the chair to take a leak while class was on, and his tutor saw him and said no, throughout this class no getting up for anything, you should have done everything before the class. This taught him an important lesson. He will prepare for his class and sit all through. I loved that.
He now knows that his video game or screen time is earned after he has observed his blocks session. He is able to focus better. We have been doing 30-minute blocks, more than the time assigned to him, because I know he can do more.
She now loves to read without being told. Her confidence and belief in herself increased. She loves that Coach Sandy always calls her to answer questions and read. Even when she is not getting it she is not talked down on, so it gives her the courage to want to focus more and do her best.
Reading story books had been a big challenge, but it's been a different story now. He reads without being forced or reminded. My child is more aware of a structure in place for his studying. He honestly reminds me.
Writing down the progress, even though I don't always have time to, the thought of it helps. Secondly, the fact that I had to set up a reading room has really helped a lot. Henceforth there will always be a study room in my house.
He is always ready now to do his homework by himself, without being prompted to do so.
Our block lessons have greatly improved. She is more willing to participate and looks forward to the reward of pink coins. She makes plans for how to spend them. I have also reduced the block time from 1 hour to between 15 and 30 minutes. In a group setting she is still playful when focus moves to others.
Reading and keeping to her time improved. She is so conscious of it that she wouldn't let a minute pass before stopping.
08 FAQ
Questions parents ask us
Who is Tensai Coaching for?
Children aged 5 to 14 who struggle to concentrate, stay on task, finish their work or study without a fight. It also suits children who are doing fine but rush, give up easily or depend on reminders.
How is coaching different from tutoring?
Tutoring teaches subjects like Maths and English. Coaching works on how your child learns: focus, routine, attitude and study habits. Some families do both, and the assessment will tell you what your child needs.
Why do we have to start with an assessment?
Because no two children are stuck for the same reason. The one-hour assessment shows us whether we're dealing with focus, a learning gap, the wrong method or what's happening at home, so the plan fits your child from the first session.
How long does coaching last?
Your child's plan sets out what we'll work on and how often they'll meet their coach. You can see what changed after every session in your summary.
How many sessions a week?
Once or twice a week, one hour each, on Google Meet. Times are agreed with your family, including weekends and evenings.
What do I need to do as a parent?
A few minutes a day for the home actions, a quiet corner for study and a steady routine. You won't need to teach anything.
What if my child misses a session?
Private sessions can be rescheduled under the policy in your Parent Learning Partner Agreement, and session recordings are there to rewatch.
Is my child safe online?
Everyone who works with your child is checked before they start. With your consent, sessions are recorded so we can review quality, and any concern is dealt with the same day.
